Geely Lynk & Co 10 postavlja novi standard u brzom punjenju električnih vozila
Geely, a major Chinese automaker, has set a new benchmark in electric vehicle charging. Its Lynk & Co 10 model, equipped with the Energee Golden Brick battery operating at 900V, can charge from 10% to 70% in just 4 minutes and 22 seconds, outpacing recent achievements from BYD. This detail matters because it highlights Geely's push to lead in charging efficiency.
Official figures show that reaching 80% charge takes 5 minutes and 32 seconds, while a near-full charge up to 97% requires only 8 minutes and 42 seconds. In comparison, BYD's system takes about 5 minutes to hit 70% and 9 minutes to reach 97%. Peak charging power hits 1100 kW, and even after 80%, it stays high at over 500 kW, ensuring consistent performance.
The tests were carried out on Zeekr V4 megawatt charging stations. Although such stations are not yet widespread, Geely's network already boasts over 2100 stations and more than 10,000 charging points. This infrastructure gives Geely an edge in the evolving EV landscape.
BYD, on the other hand, is focusing on scale, with around 5000 megawatt stations deployed and plans to expand to 20,000. Against this backdrop, the competition intensifies as both companies vie for dominance.
Ultra-fast charging is emerging as a critical factor in the EV market. Cutting charging times to mere minutes effectively addresses a key drawback of electric vehicles compared to traditional engines. If these technologies become mainstream, they could drive the shift to EVs more effectively than subsidies or regulations.
Overall, Geely is positioning itself strongly in this new phase of the EV race, where charging speed takes precedence over range. However, success will hinge not just on technology but also on how quickly companies can scale up their charging infrastructure.
