Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 recalls cover 2023–2025: AEB failure and frame weld risk
Daimler Vans USA has announced two separate recalls for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 vans, each covering different model years.
First recall
The 2025 models may experience a failure of the automatic emergency braking system due to a defective printed circuit board in the short-range radar. The component is supplied by Robert Bosch, and the issue was identified in May 2025.
Second campaign
The 2023–2024 vans are affected by insufficient reinforcement of a longitudinal frame member caused by a welding error. This defect increases the risk of injury for third-row passengers. Inspections uncovered the problem back in February 2024.
Two very different faults—one tied to electronics, the other to welding—underline how varied the challenges can be on a modern workhorse. It is a reminder that reliability today depends equally on sensors and structure.
Dealers are set to receive repair instructions by October 31, 2025, while owner notifications are scheduled to roll out from December 2025 through January 2026.
In the third quarter of 2025, Sprinter sales in the U.S. fell by 19% to about 9,500 vehicles. Even with softer demand, the Sprinter remains a cornerstone in the Mercedes Vans lineup, and its role is unlikely to shift quickly.
The van is offered with diesel and electric powertrains, and the eSprinter with a battery of up to 113 kWh delivers a range of up to 332 km.
