SAIC-GM Jinqiao hits four million as Cadillac XT5 rolls off the line
General Motors’ leading joint venture in China has announced that a Cadillac XT5 became the four-millionth vehicle to roll off the SAIC-GM Jinqiao line in Shanghai. The milestone arrives just as the plant marks the first anniversary of producing the updated XT5 there.
It also coincides with the launch of a second shift at the factory, introduced to boost output and keep pace with fast-rising customer demand. The timing feels deliberate: capacity is ramping up precisely as the market heats up.
Opened back in 1998, the SAIC-GM Jinqiao site has long stood as a showcase for GM’s manufacturing standards in China. Building on that base, Cadillac is steadily consolidating its position in the country, expanding its footprint among premium midsize SUVs. The fact that this milestone belongs to the XT5 only reinforces that momentum.
