All-electric Toyota C-HR BEV confirmed for Australia from 2027

Toyota has confirmed plans to bring an all-electric C-HR crossover to Australia, positioning it against the BYD Atto 3, Kia EV3 and Geely EX5. The newcomer is not expected to reach the local market before 2027.

The C-HR BEV will be sold alongside the hybrid version of the crossover, yet it is a different model built on a dedicated electric platform. It also features increased ground clearance, in the vein of the Corolla Cross hybrid and the bZ4X. Pairing it with the hybrid should make the transition to electric a little easier for buyers who want familiar format with a cleaner drivetrain.

As for the numbers, the stated driving range is around 600 kilometres on the WLTP cycle. That’s a strong claim, promising enough endurance to take on longer trips without fuss—exactly the kind of reassurance that tends to win over fence-sitters.

The Toyota C-HR BEV’s motor will be offered in two outputs: a 125 kW base setup and higher-spec versions with up to 252 kW. Pricing remains undisclosed, but there is reason to believe the C-HR BEV will rank among Toyota’s more accessible electric models in the local lineup. If those figures hold, the package looks well-judged for Australia’s fast-growing small EV crossover crowd.
