Tesla Australia recalls 7,301 2025 Model Y over window pinch-protection software bug

Tesla Australia has announced a recall of 7,301 Model Y vehicles from the 2025 model year. The campaign covers every variant of the refreshed crossover sold on the local market.

According to the Department of Infrastructure, the issue involves the driver’s window pinch-protection system: due to a software fault, the glass may close with excessive force, creating a risk of injury if a hand or another body part is in the opening.

No injuries have been reported to date, but the manufacturer has urged owners to update their software without delay. The fix is available starting with version 2025.25.6 and can be installed over the air via the infotainment menu.

A service-center visit isn’t required to resolve the issue, though owners can contact Tesla by phone or through the official website if they prefer.

Episodes like this show that even leading EV brands can trigger large recalls over software glitches—another reminder of why routine updates matter. The over-the-air remedy keeps disruption to a minimum, yet it also illustrates how deeply modern cars rely on code, making timely installation of such fixes the sensible move.
