GM hits 2.2M U.S. sales Jan–Sep 2025, best since 2015; EVs up 105% led by Equinox EV
General Motors reported strong sales in the United States. From January through September 2025, the company sold 2.2 million vehicles, 10% more than a year earlier and the best nine-month tally since 2015. GM delivered 2.7 million vehicles in 2024, so the current pace points to an improvement on that figure.
Electric vehicles made up about 7% of the mix. Over nine months, the company sold 144,668 EVs—up 105% from 2024. The Chevrolet Equinox EV led the charge with 52,834 units and a 389.9% surge; in the third quarter alone, it reached 25,085. The Chevrolet Silverado EV (9,379 units) and Blazer EV (20,825 units) also advanced. The Equinox EV’s momentum underscores the pull of a familiar nameplate in a fast-growing segment.
Conventional models kept up strong form. Among the standouts were the Buick Envista, Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Terrain. In the third quarter, the Equinox accounted for more than 10% of GM’s sales, exceeding 73,000 units. The Silverado lineup remained the company’s top seller with 138,873 vehicles. The balance between high-volume combustion models and rapidly expanding EV offerings shows a pragmatic path: keep the core business humming while electrification scales.
