Inside the new Mercedes GLB: MBUX Superscreen and smarter comfort

Mercedes has revealed the interior of the second-generation GLB, a compact seven-seat crossover set to debut on December 8. The model rides on the MMA platform, as does the new CLA, so the brand’s pared-back aesthetic and tech-first approach carry straight into the cabin. The centerpiece is the MBUX Superscreen: a 10.25-inch display for the driver and two 14-inch touchscreens, including a dedicated unit for the front passenger. This panel will be standard on higher trims, while entry versions retain a decorative insert in place of the extra display.

The latest MBUX brings Google Maps smart navigation, a zero-layer interface, and an AI-driven voice assistant. Beneath the screens sits a floating console with buttons, a smartphone bay, and an open lower compartment. Unlike the CLA, the steering wheel uses physical keys in response to customer requests—an approach that should keep core functions intuitive.

The GLB still comes in five- and seven-seat configurations, yet the cabin has grown roomier. The second row benefits from extra headroom thanks to the tall roof and a panoramic glass sunroof; thigh support has been improved, and getting into the third row is easier.

At first glance, the new GLB shapes up as one of the most technologically advanced cars of 2026, but the real victory will be keeping that digital muscle from overshadowing everyday comfort and ease of use.
