DR 5 facelift teased: ex-DR 5.0 budget SUV gains tech, safety and bi-fuel options
It turns out the EBRO S400 has a close Italian relative—the budget-friendly DR 5.0 SUV, built on the same Chery Tiggo 5x platform. In Italy, the model is known for its accessibility and is now headed for a significant refresh. DR Automobiles has already released a teaser indicating that after the facelift the car will change its name and be sold as the DR 5.
Measuring 4.3 meters long, the model is set to gain a revamped exterior: rear lamps connected by an illuminated strip, a reworked roofline, and more expressive proportions. By analogy with the new Tiggo 4, one can expect a sizeable grille, vertical DRLs, and a more assertive front bumper. Such touches usually give compact crossovers a more planted, contemporary stance.
Inside, DR promises a technological leap—modern infotainment systems, better materials, and expanded safety features. In a crowded market of value-focused crossovers, that focus can make the difference; if executed cleanly, it addresses the areas where budget SUVs often feel dated.
The powertrain range will continue to emphasize gasoline options and, in particular, bi-fuel units. This strategy should help the DR 5 remain one of the most cost-effective choices among affordable family SUVs—a pragmatic hook for buyers counting every expense.
