Mitsubishi confirms 2026 UK comeback: Eclipse Cross and updated Outlander PHEV

Mitsubishi has confirmed it will return to the UK market in 2026. Imports will be handled by International Motors, the distributor already responsible for Isuzu, Subaru, GWM and Xpeng in Britain. First customer deliveries are pencilled in for the summer, though the model line-up has yet to be revealed.

According to Autocar, the leading candidates for the comeback are the new Eclipse Cross—effectively a reworked Renault Scenic EV—and the updated Outlander PHEV. The previous Outlander generation was for a long time among the country’s best-selling plug-in hybrids, so leaning on that nameplate looks like a sensible bet.

Frank Krol, head of Mitsubishi Europe, said the forthcoming models would showcase the brand’s core technologies, from all-wheel drive to performance. Mitsubishi UK added that interest in the marque remained even after its 2021 exit, which ultimately encouraged the decision to return.

A new dealer network will be established in the UK to complement the 100 existing Mitsubishi service centres. The brand is counting on a brisk restart and the support of a loyal customer base that has kept an emotional connection with the badge.
