Honda recalls 256,603 Accord Hybrids in the U.S. over software glitch
A major recall has been announced in the United States for the Honda Accord Hybrid, affecting 256,603 vehicles. According to NHTSA, a software glitch in some cars can trigger internal modules to reboot unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion, creating a risk of losing propulsion and briefly losing control. It’s the kind of issue that rattles drivers even when described in dry technical terms.
The regulator notes that the problem is strictly software-related. The fix will be free for owners: dealers will reprogram the control system at no cost. A quick dealer reflash should neatly address the fault.
This is Honda’s second large-scale recall in November. Earlier, the company recalled more than 406,000 Civic models due to a manufacturing defect that could cause aluminum wheels to detach.
Despite the scope, Honda says it will deploy updates promptly and restore safe operation. The company’s U.S. division continues to coordinate with NHTSA, and owner notifications will be sent soon. In situations like this, speed and clear communication matter just as much as the remedy itself.
