Mitsubishi Destinator unveiled: global three-row SUV with panoramic roof and AYC
Mitsubishi has unveiled the new three-row Destinator SUV in Indonesia — a global model aimed at Southeast Asia, South America, the Middle East, and Africa. In size, it sits slightly above the Eclipse Cross and just below the Outlander PHEV, but rides on an extended 2815 mm wheelbase that makes room for a genuine third row with its own air vents. Even that detail signals a family-focused machine designed for comfortable long-distance travel.
Inside, a fully digital instrument panel pairs with a 12.3-inch infotainment display that also controls the panoramic roof — a first for Mitsubishi. The glass opens in 5% increments, a thoughtful touch that subtly lifts the cabin’s feel.
Despite front-wheel drive and a straightforward suspension layout, the Destinator can surprise off the pavement. Ground clearance reaches up to 244 mm, while approach and departure angles are comparable to serious off-roaders. Enthusiasts have already begun referring to it as a spiritual successor to the Pajero, noting the instrument graphics and a rear-end treatment that nods to the brand’s trademark spare-wheel motif.
Under the hood sits a modern 1.5-liter turbo MIVEC rated at 120 kW and 250 Nm, using a water intercooler, a combination of direct and port injection, and the Atkinson cycle. The SUV also offers Mitsubishi’s AYC along with preset driving modes ranging from Normal to Mud.
