Third-gen Range Rover Evoque to go fully electric in 2027

The Range Rover Evoque is heading for a radical overhaul: the third generation will go fully electric and is slated for late 2027. It will serve as the finishing touch to a refreshed Range Rover lineup that also brings battery-powered versions of the Velar, the Sport, and the flagship Range Rover.

The new Evoque will sit on the EMA platform with an 800-volt architecture. Debuting on the next Velar, this base is set to become central to JLR’s electric crossovers. It uses in-house electric motors and batteries produced by Tata, and the driving range is meant to be competitive—the reference point is future EV crossovers like the Mercedes GLA EV with more than 720 km. Setting the target there hints at a confident brief.

At the same time, JLR is not ruling out a version with extended range based on a small gasoline engine: interest in plug-in hybrids is growing, and regulatory adjustments allow hybrids to be sold until 2035. For a model with broad appeal, keeping that option open looks like a pragmatic hedge.

Visually, the new Evoque is unlikely to stage a revolution. The current model’s design language should carry over, while the EMA platform opens up more space in both the cabin and the trunk. Inside, expect a cleaner layout, richer materials, and a broader set of digital services. That balance preserves the Evoque’s identity while making day-to-day use easier.

Rolling out an electric Evoque will be central to keeping the nameplate in the range beyond 2030—especially given it currently accounts for up to 40% of Range Rover sales in the UK. Protecting that demand looks essential for the brand’s momentum.
