Bugatti finishes Bolide run, marking the end of the W16
Bugatti has officially completed production of the track-only Bolide, with the final car in the 40-unit run signaling the curtain call for the marque’s W16. The 8.0-liter quad-turbo engine has defined Bugatti’s character for more than two decades and now bows out: the Bolide and the Mistral roadster will be the last to carry this storied powerplant.
According to auto magazine 32CARS.RU, the Bolide was conceived purely for the circuit. Working with Dallara, Bugatti created a carbon chassis built to FIA standards for Le Mans prototypes. At around 1,450 kg, the Bolide delivers 1,578 hp, reaches 300 km/h in 11.5 seconds, and tops out at 380 km/h. In corners it sustains up to 2.5 g, numbers that place it squarely in race-car territory. Even on paper, it reads like a machine tuned for lap times rather than spectacle.
All 40 examples were snapped up almost instantly, despite a starting price of $4.7 million. The final Bolide wears a special livery inspired by the historic Bugatti Type 35, while the buyer’s name, as is customary, remains undisclosed.
The end of Bolide production is a clear pivot for the brand: a new powertrain chapter lies ahead, while the W16 takes its place in Bugatti’s history with the farewell it earned.
