Lexus ES goes electric in Europe: eighth-gen lineup adds ES 350e, ES 500e and 300h

Lexus has announced the launch of the eighth-generation ES in Europe. The updated premium four-door moves to a new platform architecture, grows in size, and broadens its powertrain menu—from the familiar hybrid to debut all-electric variants.

Preorders open in December, with first cars reaching dealers in April 2026. The lineup will include the ES 350e, ES 500e, and the well-known ES 300h hybrid.

The new ES has noticeably increased in footprint: length is 5.14 m, width is 1.92 m, and wheelbase stands at 2.95 m. The exterior follows the Clean Tech x Elegance theme, with signature L-shaped headlights, the large grille removed, flush door handles, and an illuminated rear logo. The palette spans seven colors, including a new shade called “Azul Egeo.” The cleaner front end gives the sedan a calmer, more contemporary stance.

Inside, everything has been rethought. There’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch multimedia screen, support for OTA updates, and enhanced navigation tailored for the electric versions. A large panoramic roof is standard, the rear bench offers an ottoman behind the driver, and a Mark Levinson 3D audio system with 17 speakers is available. The layout and features read as a clear emphasis on comfort and quiet tech.

The headline news is the arrival of the electric ES 350e (224 hp, front-wheel drive) and ES 500e (343 hp, all-wheel drive). Both use a 77 kWh battery and are expected to cover over 530 km on the WLTP cycle, with 10–80% charging taking around 30 minutes. On paper, that combination should make everyday use straightforward and longer trips less of a worry.

The core ES 300h hybrid remains in the range in a new generation: a 2.5-liter engine paired with an electric drive for a combined 201 hp. It continues to be offered with both front- and all-wheel drive, a sensible choice for drivers not ready to go fully electric.
