Skoda Fabia RS to return in 2026 with 2.0 TSI and DSG
Skoda may bring the Fabia RS back to market after more than a decade away. Test prototypes of the updated hatchback have been spotted at the Nürburgring, standing apart from the regular model with sporty touches, including painted brake calipers, spoilers, and additional aerodynamic pieces. Sources indicate a debut in 2026, alongside a facelift for the fourth-generation Fabia that has been in production since 2021.
Under the hood, the Fabia RS will likely use the 2.0-liter TSI turbo from the Volkswagen Polo GTI, rated at 204 hp and 320 Nm, paired with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. That setup would sharpen its competitiveness among compact performance cars, even as crossovers continue to dominate. The prototype’s details suggest a focus on substance over flash, which suits the Fabia’s character.
Skoda reports that 117,100 Fabias were sold in 2024, making it the brand’s third-best-selling model. An RS version could attract buyers who want an engaging drive without giving up everyday usability—a straightforward recipe that usually resonates when executed well.
