Consumer Reports removes Recommended rating from the 2026 Cadillac XT5
The midsize Cadillac XT5 no longer carries Consumer Reports’ Recommended rating. The influential nonprofit removed the label from the 2026 model-year crossover, pointing to owner-reported reliability results that fell below average.
The move stems directly from the collective experience of XT5 owners, captured in Consumer Reports’ 2025 auto survey. Respondents cited a range of troubles, from complete transmission replacements and drivetrain faults to glitches with electrical accessories, as well as body integrity issues such as sunroof leaks and trim delamination. It’s the kind of pattern that clashes with expectations for a premium Cadillac, and in a segment where buyers value peace of mind, that’s a difficult narrative to overcome.
