Genesis GV80 and G80 Hybrid lineup set for 2026 launch

Genesis is gearing up to launch its first hybrid lineup. In 2026, the GV80 Hybrid and GV80 Coupe Hybrid crossovers will arrive, and the G80 Hybrid sedan will follow in the fourth quarter. The models will use a P1+P2 parallel hybrid setup that pairs a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine with two electric motors; the arrangement is aimed at cutting fuel use and improving performance. The timing reads like a confident, coordinated rollout rather than a cautious pilot.

An uncamouflaged G80 was spotted parked on a public street with a sticker reading 'RG3 HEV'. RG3 is the internal code for the third-generation G80, while HEV denotes a hybrid electric vehicle. It appears Genesis has been testing both the GV80 Hybrid and the G80 Hybrid without camouflage while trying to keep a low profile.

Preliminary figures point to about 362 hp and torque up to 46.9 kgf·m, a 19 percent bump over the gasoline version. Efficiency is expected to climb as well: for the GV80, projections suggest 13.5 km/l and a range of up to 1080 km, while the G80 sedan may do even better thanks to its aerodynamics. The cars will also borrow EV-style conveniences such as Stay Mode, which keeps onboard systems running with the engine off, and V2L for powering external devices. On paper, the blend of output, efficiency, and utility looks convincing, provided those targets hold up in real-world use.
