XPeng X9 electric minivan unveiled at IAA Mobility 2025
XPeng keeps pushing deeper into Europe: at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, the brand unveiled the X9 electric minivan. The company presents it as a starship of the future, and in practice the newcomer really surprises with a mix of technology and everyday usefulness.
The headline act is space: 7.7 square meters of interior room, a power-folding third row, and up to 2,554 liters of usable volume. A first-in-segment rear-wheel steering system lets it pivot within just 5.4 meters—territory usually reserved for compact city hatchbacks. That should make tight parking and narrow streets far less daunting.
The electric van fits four rows of seats with power adjustment, massage and ventilation, plus a 10.8-liter fridge and a multimedia setup built around a 21.4-inch TUV Rheinland-certified display. Brainwork is handled by the Tianji XOS platform running on a Snapdragon 8295 chip, with multi-zone voice control to keep the cabin experience intuitive. The details suggest a car built for long trips as much as for school runs.
There’s substance behind the style: the battery promises up to 740 km on the CLTC cycle, and a quick 13-minute stop at a fast charger can add around 400 km. Energy use is stated at just 16.2 kWh per 100 km, figures that stand out even in a crowded EV field.
Visually, the XPeng X9 leans into a futuristic, star-inspired theme, with pillars raked at 21 degrees, hidden door handles, and a body shaped for aero efficiency. On the IAA stand it appeared in the Performance version, underscoring its dynamic bent. The design reads cohesive and modern, and the stance hints at more than just family duty.
