Jaguar Type 00 electric GT: 1,000+ hp, 644 km WLTP, 2027 launch
Jaguar is pressing on with its shift toward super-luxury and isn’t rushing its new electric grand tourer, known as Type 00. The camouflage is set to come off next year, yet customer deliveries are planned only for the later part of 2027. It’s a bold pause for the brand, but the intent is clear: refine the product to the right standard rather than chase a date at any cost.
Key specs are now confirmed for the project, internally called X900. The car will use three electric motors—one up front and two at the rear—with a combined output of more than 1,000 hp. The setup has a rear-driven character: a baseline torque split of 30:70, with the ratio shifting to suit conditions.
In size, this is a large machine, measuring over five meters in length, with standard 23-inch wheels. The target curb weight is under 2,750 kg and the balance is close to 50:50. In layout it’s more of a hatchback-GT with a fifth door, though judging by the camouflage, the tailgate opening may not be the most practical.
The battery is estimated at around 120 kWh, and range is quoted at roughly 644 km on the WLTP cycle. The platform is entirely new and dedicated to EVs. Expect air suspension with advanced damping, along with rear-wheel steering: up to six degrees of counter-phase to tighten the turning circle.
There’s a clear emphasis on quietness and a high-end feel. One prototype was reportedly taken to 257 km/h while maintaining a calm acoustic background thanks to active noise cancellation. The company says about 150 prototypes have been built, the final design is locked, and testing is under way worldwide in harsh conditions. The starting price is expected to be around $120,000, with orders potentially opening next summer. On paper, the numbers speak to serious intent, and the focus on refinement suggests a long-distance GT that aims to feel effortless.
