Why Tesla Model 3 and Model Y start from €26k in Colombia
A brand-new Tesla Model 3 priced at 25–26 thousand euros sounds like a fantasy for Europe, yet in Colombia it is standard practice—even for cars built to order rather than stock or nearly new units. In the same market, the Tesla Model Y opens at about 26,700 euros, nudging up against the price tags of many gasoline crossovers in other regions.
The explanation lies not in a special batch but in how the market is structured. Colombia has given electric cars a rare package of incentives for the region: value-added tax cut to 5% and a full exemption from import duties. On top of that, Tesla sells directly, without importers or dealer markups that in much of Latin America can inflate the final figure to around forty thousand dollars. In такой расклад покупателю легко понять арифметику выгоды.
Against familiar benchmarks, the contrast stands out. In Norway, even with electric cars dominating the roads, the Model 3 still starts at roughly 26 thousand euros in equivalent, while the Model Y sits noticeably higher. In China, the Model Y is also pricier than Colombian levels. No wonder debate has already started over whether Tesla can keep such an aggressive sticker for long.
There is, however, a flip side. The country’s charging network remains weak, and there are no Superchargers at all, so without a home outlet ownership quickly turns into a set of compromises—на бумаге цена обезоруживает, но повседневность всё равно упирается в розетку.
