1970 Buick GS Stage 1 heads to Mecum Kissimmee 2026 auction

An American classic is stepping back into the limelight: in January 2026, a rare 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 will be offered at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction. It distills everything enthusiasts prized about the muscle-car era—power, style, and unapologetic attitude.

Finished in striking Stratomist Blue with a white vinyl roof and interior, the car packs a 455-cubic-inch Big Block V8 that, in testing, delivered up to 420 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque.

Motor Trend’s figures put this Buick at 13.79 seconds in the quarter mile—quick enough to command respect even by today’s standards. The spec sheet lists a 4-speed manual with a Hurst shifter, air conditioning, power steering and brakes, a factory AM/FM radio, and Rally wheels wearing BFGoodrich tires. Only about 1,500 Stage 1 cars were built.
