Xpeng P7+ refresh adds EREV and BEV powertrains, goes global
Xpeng has begun stoking interest in the refreshed P7+, and it looks like the plan goes beyond a light facelift. The headline is an expanded lineup with an EREV option — an electric car that extends range using a gasoline generator. The company indicated it will continue its dual powertrain strategy: for the 2026 model year, the P7+ will come both as a pure battery-electric (BEV) and as an EREV.
The rationale is clear: after a strong debut, the sedan’s sales have been easing. In November, P7+ deliveries reached 4,870 units, one of the weakest monthly tallies in 2025. Against that backdrop, Xpeng aims to revive demand on two fronts at once — with a new powertrain format and a wider reach. According to the brand, the updated P7+ will become a global model sold in 36 countries, with unified production and safety standards.
On the technical side, the promises sound ambitious. The EREV is quoted with a combined range of up to 1,550 km, while the BEV is rated at up to 725 km. Xpeng also points to 104 user-experience improvements and updates covering 36% of key systems and components, suggesting changes that should be felt beyond the styling.
