Mugen SPEC.III kit for the Honda Prelude: Japan-only, 16 units

The revived Honda Prelude has already received the Mugen treatment—but under a tightly limited program. The Japanese tuner has unveiled the SPEC.III package, a body kit that makes the coupe look markedly more aggressive, yet it will be offered to only a small circle of owners.

What the Mugen SPEC.III kit includes

SPEC.III focuses purely on visual impact. The set brings carbon aero pieces, including front and rear spoilers, side skirts, a diffuser, mirror caps, and a trunk-lid spoiler. Completing the look are a stainless-steel sports exhaust and an individual serial plaque.

Exclusivity as a strategy

Mugen plans to sell just 16 SPEC.III kits, and only on the Japanese domestic market. Buyers will be selected via a lottery—an approach that underscores the kit’s collectible status. For the U.S. and other countries, this level of customization won’t be officially available.

Price and the Prelude’s reality

The kit itself is priced at 1,650,000 yen, which translates to roughly $10,500. Additional options, including forged BBS wheels and an exhaust, push the final amount up significantly. At the same time, the Prelude remains a hybrid coupe with about 200 hp, making the contrast between its look and its performance especially noticeable.
