Mercedes-Benz 2026: new electric models and key updates

Mercedes-Benz is entering 2026 with the most extensive product program in its history. After a sales dip in 2025, the brand is betting on updating key models and aggressively expanding its electric lineup.

Flagships and Key Updates

On January 29, the significantly refreshed S-Class will debut, followed by a Maybach version with a longer wheelbase and a V12 engine. Throughout the year, Mercedes will also update the GLE and GLS crossovers. In the compact segment, the GLA is set for a generational change, gaining a fully electric variant that will replace the EQA.

Electrification and Lineup Integration

One of the main highlights will be the first-ever C-Class without an internal combustion engine. This model will be technically similar to the electric GLC, which, according to Mercedes, already has demand securing production capacity for the second half of the year. The company continues its strategy of merging gasoline and electric models into a unified lineup with shared design, moving away from the overly futuristic style of past EVs.

AMG and Iconic Models

In 2026, AMG will unveil its first electric vehicle built on its own platform. It will succeed the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe and was previously previewed as the GT XX concept. The return of the G-Class Cabriolet is also expected—an open-top version of the iconic off-roader, coming amid record G-Class sales in 2025 that approached 50,000 units.

What to Expect

2026 will be a decisive year for Mercedes. A comprehensive model refresh, the launch of new electric vehicles, and a focus on iconic models should help the brand recover its footing and strengthen competitiveness against active moves by BMW and Audi.
