GAC Aion UT electric car details and specs for Australia
Chinese automaker GAC has announced the launch of its new electric vehicle, the Aion UT, positioning it as one of the most affordable electric options for the Australian market. The car is expected to go on sale in spring or summer 2026, competing directly with popular compact EVs like the BYD Dolphin, MG 4, and GWM Ora.
Australian specifications for the GAC Aion UT remain undisclosed. However, looking at the right-hand-drive version sold in Thailand, the entry-level Standard trim comes with a front-mounted electric motor producing 100 kW and 145 N·m of torque, paired with a 50.3 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery. This setup delivers a claimed NEDC range of 420 km.
The more upscale Premium trim in Thailand features a larger 60 kWh battery and a more powerful 150 kW, 210 N·m front motor, boosting the NEDC range to 500 km.
With dimensions of 4,270 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, plus a 2,750 mm wheelbase, the Aion UT is comparable in size to a Toyota Corolla or Volkswagen Golf. It offers a boot capacity of 440 liters.
