Zeekr 8X powertrain details and key specifications revealed
The Chinese Ministry of Industry has revealed key specifications for the powertrain of the Zeekr 8X. According to the published data, the model will be offered with two traction battery options: 55.1 kWh and 70 kWh. Both are triple-lithium chemistry batteries, likely belonging to the 6C ultra-fast charging family already seen in the Zeekr 9X.
In pure electric mode, the Zeekr 8X will be capable of 256 km, 257 km, or 328 km of range depending on the version. The maximum figure exceeds 320 km, placing the model among the longest-range plug-in hybrids on the market. These figures are expected to be based on the WLTC cycle.
In terms of design, the newcomer largely follows the Zeekr 9X, featuring a massive chrome grille, split headlights, and a lidar unit above the windshield. This lidar indicates the presence of advanced driver-assistance systems, from urban and highway autopilot to enhanced automatic parking functions.
The SUV measures 5100 x 1998 x 1780 mm with a wheelbase of 3069 mm, making it slightly more compact than the 9X. Options include a 'black pack' with darkened trim, electric running boards, and a retractable tow hitch rated for up to 2000 kg.
The powertrain is based on a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 205 kW. Looking ahead, a three-motor electric drive, the Haohan AI digital chassis, and 48V active stabilizers are anticipated.
If the claimed electric range is confirmed in real-world conditions, the Zeekr 8X could set a new benchmark for premium PHEV crossovers and pose a serious challenge to pure electric vehicles.
