Lotus launches in Brazil with Emira and electric vehicles

British automaker Lotus, an iconic brand with a rich racing heritage, is preparing for its official entry into the Brazilian market. The launch is expected between late 2026 and early 2027, marking a significant step in Geely's regional expansion.

Betting on Heritage and Emotion

The key model at launch will be the Lotus Emira, one of the brand's last sports cars with an internal combustion engine. This car is intended to reinforce Lotus's image as a brand for enthusiasts and recall Colin Chapman's philosophy: balancing weight, power, and driving feel. The Emira is offered with either a turbocharged four-cylinder or a naturally aspirated V6 engine, standing as a rare example of a classic mid-engine sports car in the era of electrification.

An Electric Future, Geely-Style

At the same time, Lotus will promote new electric models developed under Geely's wing. The Eletre crossover and Emeya sedan are built on an 800-volt architecture and target the premium segment with a focus on power, technology, and design. Both vehicles use advanced driver-assistance systems with LiDAR and offer performance comparable to supercars, but in the form of an SUV and a GT sedan.

Brand Positioning

In Brazil, Lotus will occupy the top tier in Geely's brand hierarchy. The model isn't expected to achieve mass sales or aggressive pricing; instead, the brand aims to showcase the conglomerate's capabilities and engineering potential. This explains the broad model range, spanning from an emotional sports car to high-tech electric vehicles.
