DS Tailor Made N°4 concept honors driver Taylor Barnard

DS Automobiles unveiled its "Tailor Made N°4" concept at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show. The car honors British racing driver Taylor Barnard, who recently joined the DS Penske Formula E team. The project showcases the brand's personalized design approach and visually bridges motorsport with production models.

The concept is based on the electric compact N°4 from the C-segment. Its technical specifications remain unchanged, but the exterior and interior have been completely redesigned.

Design Inspired by Digital Worlds and Racing

The DS N°4 Tailor Made blends production elements with more futuristic details. A large "N°4" inscription dominates the front, while the lighting signature of the headlights retains the spirit of the production model. It's enhanced with a pixelated pattern that underscores the concept's technological focus.

Barnard was actively involved in selecting the color palette, drawing inspiration from motorsport and video games. The result is a dark, nearly monochrome scheme with contrasting accents. The primary gray is complemented by purple elements, creating a restrained yet expressive visual effect.

The core design idea revolves around titanium interpreted in four ways. The solutions symbolize strength and lightness: "pure titanium" with minimal coloring, "liquid titanium" with a pronounced shine, textile with a crumpled metal effect, and "black titanium" used on the roof and spoiler.

The signature DS Performance light gold color appears on the mirrors, central wheel caps, badges, and tailgate. Barnard's favorite purple is used for the door handles and side Tailor Made badging. The driver's personal number, 77, is subtly integrated into illuminated elements on the body and diffuser.

Bridging Motorsport and Production Models

The N°4 Tailor Made concept is not just an abstract show car. It's a tangible demonstration of how Formula E DNA can translate into DS road cars. This is why it was displayed alongside the number 77 DS E-TENSE FE25 race car on the Brussels stand.
