Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan updates and early dealership preview
Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun has provided an update on the preparation of the new generation of the Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan. He stated that production cars in the new 'Convertible Blue' color are already complete, looking 'very impressive,' and the company aims to deliver some demonstration vehicles to dealerships before the Spring Festival. This will allow potential buyers to get an early, in-person look at the model.
Xiaomi previously announced the start of pre-orders for the new SU7, with its official market launch scheduled for April 2026. Compared to the current version, the car has received significant technological updates, primarily in the area of intelligent driver-assistance systems.
All versions of the new SU7 are equipped with a lidar sensor, a computing platform with 700 TOPS of performance, 4D millimeter-wave radars, and the Xiaomi HAD system featuring a full-stack, end-to-end control architecture. This elevates the model to a new level in terms of automated driving and environmental perception.
The base and Pro versions are built on a 752-volt high-voltage platform utilizing silicon carbide. The Pro version offers a range of up to 902 km on the CLTC cycle. The top-tier Max variant uses an 897-volt architecture and supports ultra-fast charging: in real-world conditions, using a proprietary Xiaomi charging station, it can replenish up to 670 km of CLTC range in 15 minutes.
All trims come with the V6s Plus electric motor, fixed four-piston front brake calipers, and staggered-width tires (245 mm front and 265 mm rear). The Pro and Max versions additionally receive a closed two-chamber air suspension and adaptive dampers with a CDC system.
This early showcase of the new SU7 in dealerships is a strong move by Xiaomi, clearly betting on the impact of a 'live experience' to complement its substantial technical upgrades.
