ZR1X sells for $2.6 million at Barrett-Jackson auction
The first ZR1X example sold at Barrett-Jackson auction for $2.6 million—significantly less than expected. Despite record-breaking power, the price came in lower than last year's sales of similar models.
The Auction Outcome
The VIN 001 example went under the hammer in Scottsdale, where first editions traditionally sell for charity. This time, the final price was a million dollars lower than last year's result, when a comparable model fetched $3.7 million. Even a six-year-old model sold for more back then. Despite the modest outcome, the ZR1X remains the most valuable model in its lineup on the open market.
Why the ZR1X Stays Exclusive
The car features a unique Stars and Steel Edition configuration with hand-painted satin metal finish and thematic elements celebrating the 250th anniversary of the USA. This makes it one of a kind.
The hybrid powertrain delivers up to 1,250 horsepower, with 0-60 mph acceleration in under two seconds. In practice, on a specialized track, the car hit 60 mph in 1.68 seconds and covered the quarter-mile in 8.675 seconds—faster than many hypercars.
The Buyer and Their Motives
As in previous years, the winning bidder was a race team owner and collector known for purchasing all VIN 001 cars at charity auctions. Over recent years, he has acquired dozens of unique examples, including first editions of various models.
His participation was anticipated, and the results confirmed a trend: the market is cooling off, but the collector remains true to his habit.
