Edmunds tests show Cadillac Optiq and Vistiq exceed EPA range

Edmunds conducted independent tests of Cadillac’s new electric crossovers, and the results were surprisingly strong. The compact Optiq and the larger three-row Vistiq both delivered driving ranges beyond their EPA ratings, strengthening the brand’s position in the premium EV market.

In Sport 2 trim, the Cadillac Optiq uses an 85-kWh battery and a dual-motor setup rated at 300 hp. While the EPA lists an expected range of 483 km, Edmunds’ real-world run stretched to 542 km—about 12% more. The sprint to 97 km/h took 5.9 seconds, and average energy use came in at 29.8 kWh per 160 km, notably more efficient than the official projections.

Meanwhile, the flagship Vistiq 900 E4 pairs a 102-kWh pack with 615 hp and reached 97 km/h in 3.9 seconds. Despite a curb weight of over 2.8 tonnes, its measured range landed at 544 km versus the 488 km expectation, a 9% uplift. Energy consumption was higher than the Optiq’s, at 36.6 kWh per 160 km.

Taken together, these outcomes suggest Cadillac has found a workable balance of power, comfort, and efficiency. For shoppers, the takeaway is clear: the brand’s latest EVs are not only quick, but also easy to live with in everyday driving.
