Bentley introduces Continental GT S hybrid V8 with enhanced power

Bentley is expanding its fourth-generation Continental lineup with the introduction of the sporty GT S hybrid V8 version. This model slots between the base Continental and the Speed and Supersports variants, maintaining all-wheel drive while gaining a rear-wheel steering system for the first time.

The key innovation is the electrified powertrain. The 4.0-liter V8 combined with an electric motor produces 670 horsepower and 686 Nm of torque—an increase of 128 hp and 160 Nm over its predecessor. According to Bentley, this hybrid even outperforms the legendary W12 engine, which ended production with the limited-edition Batur coupe. The electric mode offers up to 50 km of range, allowing for silent driving when the combustion engine is off.

Performance has improved: acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.5 seconds, half a second faster than the previous version, though top speed is now limited to 306 km/h. The updated architecture incorporates active 48-volt stabilizers, an electronic rear differential lock, and the latest stability control system, borrowed from the Speed model.

Visually, the GT S features darkened headlights, dark trim elements, and new two-tone wheels, also available in an all-black finish. Inside, it boasts an exclusive two-tone material combination and glossy black decorative panels, complemented by dark chrome as an option.

For Bentley, this model symbolizes the shift toward hybrid technologies. The brand has abandoned plans to fully transition to electric vehicles by the end of the decade and is now focusing on hybrids, keeping combustion engines as a key part of its character. However, the discontinuation of the W12 has significantly impacted the market: Bentley sales dropped by 4.8% in 2025, following a 21.5% decline the previous year.
