BMW enhances 1 Series and 2 Series Gran Coupe with standard upgrades
BMW has introduced a small but notable update package for the 1 Series and 2 Series Gran Coupe in Europe. Starting in February, both models will receive an updated brand emblem, and crucially, dual-zone automatic climate control becomes standard equipment. This move, which has long awaited logical implementation, now raises the base level of comfort.
For the 1 Series with the M Sport package and the high-performance M135, the Cape York Green color is now available for the first time—a shade that debuted on the X1 in 2022. Models can also now be ordered with a black roof paired with Individual Tanzanite Blue, making configurations visually richer.
In practice, this detail matters because it highlights BMW's focus on enhancing visual appeal. Meanwhile, BMW is preparing another stylistic change—an updated logo for the M lineup. The company is keeping details under wraps, but the current font has already sparked debate: the letter "M" and series number are larger than the other characters, which is particularly noticeable on the M135, M235 GC, and M760e.
Overall, the picture is straightforward: more extensive modernizations for the 1 Series and 2 Series Gran Coupe are not expected in the near future. There is no confirmation yet that these models will be among the over 40 vehicles slated to receive Neue Klasse technologies by 2027. Electrification is also delayed: fully electric i1 and i2 models may not appear until the start of the next decade.
