9 car models being discontinued in 2026

The automotive industry is bracing for significant changes: in 2026, nine models from various brands will be discontinued. According to Motor1, the reasons range from outdated platforms to strategic shifts and poor sales performance.

Among the first to exit the market is the Acura RDX. While a replacement for the current generation is in the works, the new hybrid version won't arrive for at least two years. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, which has been around for nearly a decade, will also end its run as the brand shifts strategy away from previous approaches. The Dodge Hornet proved unsuccessful, with fewer than 40,000 units sold over three years convincing the manufacturer that the model has no future.

Jeep's lineup has taken a significant hit due to a series of large-scale recalls. In 2025, over 90,000 Grand Cherokee 4xe and more than 228,000 Wrangler 4xe vehicles were called back. These electrified SUVs will cease production in 2026.

The Karma Revero will make way for the new Gyesera, a project designed to reboot the brand with an updated powertrain. Despite its design and performance, the two-door Lexus LC coupe never found a broad customer base and is also being phased out.

Tesla has announced it will discontinue one version of the Model S, as capacity at its Fremont facility is needed for a new venture: Optimus robot production. By year's end, the company will also remove the Model X from its lineup, which has become outdated and requires a comprehensive update.

This list of departing models shows that automakers are rapidly restructuring their lineups to make room for new technologies, electric platforms, and more profitable projects.
