GM addresses braking and StabiliTrak problems in GMC models
General Motors has issued service bulletin PIT6476, addressing potential issues with the braking and StabiliTrak stability control systems in certain GMC models. The bulletin covers 2022-2026 GMC Sierra 1500 pickups and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL SUVs, regardless of engine or transmission type.
According to GM, in extreme cold temperatures below -23°C, these vehicles may display warnings such as Service StabiliTrak, Service Brake System, ABS, or Service Engine Soon. Drivers might also notice changes in brake pedal feel. In most cases, fault code C055F is logged in the electronic control unit, with an updated code C0597 for 2026 models.
The manufacturer suggests that low voltage in the electrical system, particularly from a weak battery, is the likely cause. GM advises dealers to first check the battery condition and replace it if needed. They are also instructed to inspect battery cables, fuse blocks, ground points, and connections for looseness or corrosion, and to verify the charging system operation and any aftermarket electrical loads.
