2027 Chevrolet Traverse: production, specs, and updates
General Motors plans to start serial production of the 2027 model year Chevrolet Traverse on July 20, 2026. Production will be established at the Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan, where the crossover is currently manufactured. Dealer order intake will open a bit earlier, on June 18, 2026.
The transition between model years is planned without a pause. Production of the 2026 Traverse will end on July 17, and final orders for the outgoing version must be placed within the week starting May 25. GM emphasizes that these dates are preliminary and subject to change.
The 2027 Chevrolet Traverse will continue the model's third lifecycle without significant technical changes. The crossover will still be available in four trims—LT, RS, Z71, and High Country—with front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Key updates will focus on the color palette and option packages, while the interior retains the standard three-row layout for seven passengers, with capacity expandable to eight.
Under the hood, the sole powertrain remains a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 328 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It provides a towing capacity of up to 2,268 kg and, on paper, matches the fuel efficiency of the previous V6, though in real-world use, it falls short in smoothness.
The Traverse keeps its strengths: a spacious cabin, a large 17.7-inch multimedia display with Google services, and one of the best-in-class cargo volumes—over 2.8 m³ with the seats folded. A significant model update is not expected until 2028 at the earliest.
The 2027 Chevrolet Traverse exemplifies GM's evolutionary approach, betting on stability and a proven formula. For family audiences, this is a plus, but the lack of major changes means the model will increasingly feel pressure from more technologically advanced competitors in the coming years.
