Unmodified polestar 3 travels 143 miles beyond official range on uk roads

Polestar has set a new world record for the longest distance driven by an electric SUV on a single charge, with its unmodified Polestar 3 Long Range covering 581.3 miles (935km) across UK roads. That’s 143 miles beyond its official 438-mile WLTP range and enough to dethrone the Ford Mustang Mach-E’s previous mark of 569.64 miles.

The record-breaking run used a completely stock model with a 107kWh battery and a single 295bhp rear motor. Even the standard Michelin Sport 4 EV tyres were retained. The route took in narrow single-track lanes, dual carriageways, and B-roads, all while adhering to normal speed limits and avoiding any repeated roads.

With an efficiency of 5.13 miles per kWh — similar to some small EVs weighing far less than the 2.4-tonne Polestar — the achievement highlights what’s possible with efficient driving. The team even managed an extra eight miles after the display hit 0%, reaching a charger without issue.

Drivers involved in the attempt say this «journey record» is more meaningful than lab-based tests, as it reflects real-world use. While few owners will match the result, it shows that range anxiety is fading as EV technology and infrastructure improve.
