Toyota and Lexus recall 600,000 vehicles for blank 12.3-inch digital clusters

Toyota has announced a recall of nearly 600,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to an issue with the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. In some cases, the screen can stay blank at startup, putting the cars out of compliance with federal safety standards, including the required display of the gear position indicator.

The recall spans 13 models, including the Toyota Camry, RAV4, GR Corolla, Crown, Highlander, and Grand Highlander, as well as the Lexus LS, RX, and TX. Owner notifications will begin in November 2025. Dealers will update the instrument cluster software or, if needed, replace the unit.

Toyota has not specified the affected model years or the timeline for updated components. Notably, the action covers both high-volume models like the RAV4 and premium entries such as the Lexus LS and TX.

The scope of the issue highlights how even leading brands face the growing pains of vehicle digitization. For owners, it’s a prompt to keep an eye on recall notices and check their VIN in Toyota’s database.
