BYD Atto 2 named Best Electric Vehicle Under $40,000 for 2026

The BYD Atto 2 has clinched the top spot in the "Best Electric Vehicle Under $40,000" category at the Drive Car of the Year 2026 awards.

In this competitive segment, the BYD Atto 2 faced off against two rivals: the BYD Atto 3 and the Hyundai Inster. While all three models impressed the judges, the new BYD Atto 2 ultimately emerged as the standout choice.

Its victory was secured by superior technology, innovative features, and high-quality interior craftsmanship. This recognition solidifies the Atto 2's leadership in the affordable electric vehicle market.

Although its WLTP range of 345 km isn't a record-breaker, the 51 kWh battery is well-suited for city driving and regular home charging—a practical compromise. The model also features a single electric motor delivering 130 kW of power and 290 Nm of torque.
