Suzuki has launched sales of the Vitara Turbo Hybrid in Australia, a model equipped with a mild-hybrid 48-volt SHVS system and featuring minimal technical changes compared to the traditional Vitara. The familiar 1.4-liter BoosterJet Turbo engine serves as the foundation, now boosted by an ISG starter-generator. Combined output is 90 kW and 235 Nm, positioning the newcomer as an economical alternative rather than a full hybrid.

Price emerges as the key selling point: the Vitara Turbo Hybrid starts at AU$39,990 (under US$29,000), while the AllGrip all-wheel-drive version costs AU$45,990. Against the backdrop of growing hybrid interest, this affordable MHEV option allows Suzuki to fill the gap between the standard Vitara and the upcoming all-electric e-Vitara.

Visually, little has changed: an analog instrument panel, familiar physical controls, and a 7-inch multimedia screen for the base model. Standard equipment includes LED lighting, 17-inch wheels, a rear camera, automatic climate control, and adaptive cruise control.

The AllGrip trim adds a panoramic roof, upgraded interior trim, synthetic leather, a 9-inch display, a new set of drive modes, and an expanded comfort package. Color choices are limited to white, dark gray, and black; the AllGrip offers two-tone combinations, but most shades come at an extra cost.

Suzuki's Australian lineup is rapidly evolving, with the fully electric e-Vitara set to arrive soon on the Heartect-e platform with 49 and 61 kWh batteries. In this context, the Vitara Turbo Hybrid serves as a transitional product for customers who aren't ready for an EV but want to reduce fuel consumption and ownership costs.
