Chevrolet debuts Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo concepts

Chevrolet has unveiled two bold concept cars — the Corvette CX and the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo — giving fans a glimpse of where the iconic American sports car could be headed. Introduced at The Quail, these designs won’t enter production but will guide the future direction of Corvette styling and technology.

The Corvette CX is a fully electric supercar powered by four motors producing more than 2,000 horsepower. It features active aerodynamics, a vacuum fan system for downforce, and a fighter-jet-inspired canopy. Inside, drivers find a futuristic cockpit with a digital windscreen and materials like forged carbon and milled aluminum. From my perspective, the CX is a statement of intent — a vision of a Corvette designed for the EV era without sacrificing drama.

The CX.R Vision Gran Turismo, created for Sony’s Gran Turismo 7, takes the design even further for racing. It pairs three electric motors with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo V8 running on synthetic fuel, revving to an astonishing 15,000 rpm. Painted in Corvette Racing’s signature yellow-and-black livery, it channels decades of motorsport heritage into a car meant for both virtual and conceptual track battles.

While these concepts may never reach dealerships, they mark an important moment: Corvette embracing both electrification and hybrid performance as inspiration for its next chapter.
