New 2026 Tesla Model Y L debuts as six-seat SUV exclusive to China

Tesla has officially launched the Model Y L in China — a long-wheelbase, six-seat version of its global best-seller. Measuring 4,976 mm in length and riding on a wheelbase stretched by 150 mm, the L variant offers a true three-row layout designed to meet Chinese buyers’ preference for rear-seat comfort.

Instead of a seven-seat bench, the Y L adopts two heated and ventilated captain’s chairs in the second row, while the third row also gains heating and dedicated air vents. Cargo capacity jumps to 2,539 liters with both rows folded, compared to 2,138 liters in the standard Model Y.

Exterior tweaks include extended rear doors, a new black spoiler, exclusive 19-inch «rotating mecha» alloys, and the option of a striking Starlight Gold paint. Inside, upgrades feature a larger 16-inch infotainment display, an 18-speaker audio system, and sportier front seats borrowed from the Model 3 Performance.

Power comes from dual motors rated at 142 kW (front) and 198 kW (rear), good for 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Despite its added size and weight, the Model Y L maintains a 751 km range under CLTC testing, thanks to aerodynamic refinements and new wheels. Tesla also highlights an upgraded suspension with continuously variable dampers for better ride quality and handling.

Priced from 339,000 yuan ($47,200), the Model Y L is available now in China. Tesla says it is a «China-specific product for now,» leaving open the possibility of future global availability.
