New 2027 Kia Seltos debuts with hybrid version and advanced tech

The New York Auto Show saw the debut of the new 2027 Kia Seltos, one of the brand's most popular crossovers. This second-generation model has grown significantly in size, gained a hybrid version, and moved closer technologically to Kia's larger SUVs.

More Space and a New Approach

The main change is the increase in dimensions and interior space. The Seltos is now wider and more spacious, offering more room for passengers and luggage, including one of the best rear-seat measurements in its segment.

The design has also been reworked in the style of the Telluride, with cleaner lines, a more upright silhouette, and an emphasis on a mature appearance. This is a clear signal that Kia wants to push the model into the top ranks of compact SUVs.

Three Powertrains and AWD

A key advantage is the choice of three powertrains: a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, a turbocharged 1.6-liter, and a new hybrid version. In the compact crossover segment, this is a rare offering that broadens options for those deciding which car to buy in 2026.

Additionally, the Seltos gains a Multi-terrain AWD mode and increased ground clearance to 8.1 inches. This makes it more versatile and brings it closer to the class of larger off-road vehicles.

Digital Interior and New Features

The interior features a modern digital architecture with two 12.3-inch screens and an additional climate control display. The system supports over-the-air updates and integration with multimedia services.

The driver assistance suite has also been expanded, including adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance systems, and a 360-degree view. All this makes the Seltos competitive not just among budget models but also against more expensive cars.
