Subaru unveils the Getaway electric crossover for 2027
Subaru has unveiled the new Getaway electric crossover for the 2027 model year. This marks the brand's largest and most powerful production vehicle to date.
The model shares its platform with the upcoming Toyota Highlander EV. It features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 420 horsepower, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in under five seconds.
The base version comes with a 95.8 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of over 300 miles (approximately 480 km). It supports fast charging at up to 150 kW, which can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. A variant with a 77 kWh battery and reduced range will follow later.
Designed to seat six or seven passengers, the crossover provides 450 liters of cargo space with the third row up, expanding to 1,291 liters when folded. Standard equipment includes a 14-inch multimedia screen, a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, and heated seats. With 21 cm of ground clearance, it can tow up to 1.6 tons.
This move underscores Subaru's aggressive push into the electric vehicle market, positioning the Getaway to compete in the large family SUV segment against rivals like the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9.
