Changan Qiyuan E07: a shape-shifting EREV with SUV-pickup utility

At the Chengdu auto show, attended by SPEEDME.RU reporters, the Changan Qiyuan E07 took the spotlight—an unconventional electric vehicle that blends SUV cues with a pickup twist. Built on the new SDA architecture, it comes in four versions priced from 219,900 to 279,900 yuan (2.49–3.15 million rubles).

The party piece is its shape-shifting body. A power-operated rear door lets the E07 morph from a coupe-style crossover into a car with a pickup-style cargo section. That flexibility makes it equally at home in the city, on road trips, and during active weekends.

The design leans into minimalism and a “digital aesthetic.” Up front there’s an integrated light bar and an animated display; at the rear, an angular outline evokes the Tesla Cybertruck. Dimensions are 5045×1996×1640–1695 mm, with a 3120‑mm wheelbase. Strongly stamped sides add a dash of ruggedness.

The cabin keeps things clean and simple. A HUD projection replaces a traditional instrument cluster, while a 15.4‑inch center screen runs on a Qualcomm 8155 chip. The front passenger gets a 12.8‑inch folding display that appears on a voice command. Seats are trimmed in Nappa leather and offer ventilation, heating, and massage.

Changan’s in-house driver-assistance suite combines 11 cameras, 5 radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 2 lidars, enabling highway autopilot, automated parking, and a valet-parking mode.

Two extended-range (EREV) setups are offered: a single-motor version rated at 231 kW, and an all-wheel-drive variant with 131 + 231 kW. In both cases a 1.5T gasoline unit works as a generator alongside a 39‑kWh battery. Electric-only range is 180–200 km.

The Qiyuan E07 shows how Chinese brands are probing new formats. The blend of SUV stance and pickup practicality feels genuinely fresh, and the high-tech specification puts it up against not only domestic rivals but also global contenders.
