Genesis GV60 recall: windshield molding may detach; fixes begin Nov 17, 2025
Hyundai Motor America has announced a recall of 7,855 Genesis GV60 crossovers built from February 2022 through July 2024 due to a risk that the upper windshield molding could detach. The steel trim piece may come loose while the vehicle is in motion, posing a hazard to other road users.
The issue traces back to insufficient adhesion during production at supplier Keumgang Chemical. An internal investigation found that improper control of lamination temperature and inadequate sealing led to the defect. In the United States, 112 instances of detachment have been documented, which prompted the formal recall. A loose strip might sound minor, but at highway speeds even a small steel piece can turn into a serious projectile.
All GV60 units are assembled in Ulsan, South Korea, and shipped to the U.S. market. Dealers will receive repair instructions on November 17, 2025, with owner notifications going out the same day. Vehicles will be fitted with updated moldings manufactured to revised specifications. The timeline pushes the remedy into late 2025; a measured schedule is preferable if it ensures a durable fix rather than a temporary patch.
The GV60 rides on the E-GMP modular platform shared with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 and is offered with rear- or all-wheel drive. The model underwent a refresh in January 2025, and for the U.S. market the 2026 model year starts at $52,525. The range-topping GV60 Performance delivers up to 483 hp, and a more extreme GV60 Magma with roughly 700 hp is expected to join the lineup soon. Even against this recall backdrop, the product cadence shows Genesis intent on keeping the GV60 competitive with design updates, clear pricing, and headline performance.
