Ford recalls over 422,000 trucks and SUVs due to windshield wiper flaw
Ford has announced a recall of over 422,000 pickup trucks and SUVs due to a windshield wiper defect. The affected models include the F-250, F-350, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator, produced from October 2021 to December 2022.
The issue stems from a manufacturing flaw in the wiper arm attachment. This can cause the components to loosen over time, potentially leading to wiper failure or complete detachment while driving, especially in rainy conditions.
The recall decision followed intervention by the U.S. regulator NHTSA. During a mandatory review, Ford identified more than 1,500 warranty claims related to this fault. A similar problem had prompted a recall in 2022, but new cases involve vehicles outside that timeframe.
Ford corrected the defect at the supplier level in December 2022, yet owners continued to experience the malfunction. Independent repair shops struggled to diagnose the issue accurately without access to specialized tools.
Ford is currently developing an inspection and repair procedure. Owners are advised to check their vehicles using the VIN code and await official notification. This situation impacts not only new 2026 models but also earlier vehicles still in use.
