Roush recalls 2026 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X R pickups
Roush Performance has issued a recall for 1,217 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X R pickups from the 2026 model year. The reason is a possible absence of cotter pins and insufficiently tightened fasteners in the front suspension and steering assemblies, which could lead to a loss of control.
As SPEEDME journalists found, the recall covers Roush-modified vehicles built from September 25, 2025, to March 2, 2026, before a strengthened quality-control procedure was introduced.
During component installation, technicians may have deviated from the instructions: cotter pins in the upper control arm ball joints and tie-rod ends may not have been installed, while the nuts may not have been tightened enough. The first case was identified on March 2, 2026, after a dealer warranty claim, when an upper control arm ball joint separated. Cases of tie-rod separation were later recorded as well. A loss of fastening can result in a complete loss of steering control.
The issue affects cotter pins (part No. 65056) and the fasteners for the ball joint and steering links. According to the manufacturer’s estimate, the potential defect may be present on all 1,217 vehicles in the batch.
Owners have been instructed not to operate the vehicles until the defect is fixed. The trucks will be towed to a dealer, where technicians will check torque, replace the cotter pins and, if necessary, the fasteners free of charge. Owner notifications will begin on May 15, 2026.
