2026 Nissan Leaf named best compact electric crossover by U.S. News

The all-new 2026 Nissan LEAF has been named the best compact electric crossover of 2026 by U.S. News in its 2026 Best Hybrid and Electric Car Awards.

The U.S. News Best Hybrid and Electric Car Awards recognize the top electric vehicles and hybrids through a fully objective evaluation. For 2026, the awards were expanded to better distinguish vehicles by size and price segment. The ranking is based on the U.S. News Best Car Rankings, Environmental Protection Agency data on fuel economy, driving range and energy consumption, pricing information, and the views of automotive media, including experts who test cars.

“The refreshed 2026 Nissan Leaf, named best compact electric SUV, proves that an affordable price does not have to mean bare-bones equipment or obvious compromises,” said John Vincent, senior editor of vehicle testing at U.S. News. “The Leaf offers an excellent balance of range and features at a price many SUV buyers can afford.”

According to estimates from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Nissan LEAF can travel up to 487 km on a single charge, giving drivers confidence in everyday use. A built-in NACS port with Plug & Charge also gives drivers access to more than 27,500 Tesla Supercharger stations, making public charging convenient and straightforward.
