Toyota GR Yaris and Rally2 take the stage in Beijing

At the 2026 Beijing Motor Show, Toyota presented the GR Yaris sports hatchback together with its Rally2 competition version developed by Gazoo Racing.

The main focus of the display is the road-going GR Yaris. The model is built on a dedicated platform using elements from the Corolla and Yaris, and it features a 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with GR-Four all-wheel drive. Depending on the version, output reaches around 280 hp. The car is offered with either a manual or automatic transmission and is aimed at drivers looking for a more dynamic experience.

The GR Yaris features a reinforced body, a sports suspension and revised aerodynamics. Inside, it has sports seats and a modern multimedia system. The model was originally developed with rally homologation requirements in mind, which explains much of its technical layout.

Toyota also showed the GR Yaris Rally2 on its stand — a racing car prepared for international rally series. It receives a safety cage, a sequential gearbox, specialised suspension and a tuned version of the same 1.6-litre turbo engine, producing around 300 hp.

The appearance of both versions in Beijing highlights the connection between the production GR Yaris and motorsport. The road car retains the technical base and concept rooted in rally machinery, but is adapted for everyday use.
